Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), anyone without a bank account can open one at any bank branch or Bank Mitra outlet. No minimum balance is needed, your deposit earns interest, and you get a RuPay debit card.
Which schemes can it link to?
A Jan Dhan account is eligible for DBT (government money paid straight into the account), PMJJBY and PMSBY (insurance), Atal Pension Yojana and MUDRA. The bank will tell you which documents are needed when you open it.
